About Used Audi A6
Audi's four ring badge wasn't always as revered as it is today. Travel back in time 30 years and the marque was respected, sure, but its cars weren't always the most luxurious or sporty. There were highlights - the quattro coupe comes to mind - but most Audis weren't much to write home about.
That all changed in the mid-1990s though, as the manufacturer began rolling out its all- new range of saloons. The A4, A6 and A8 were runaway successes for the brand, their smart new looks and enhanced driving dynamics working wonders for its reputation.
The mid-range model, the A6, neatly bridged the gap between the A4 and A8. More affordable to run than the top-end model but more spacious than the entry-level option, the A6 was a €˜best of both worlds' car - and it still is to this day.
Now in its fifth generation, the A6 has evolved beyond recognition over the years. The second-generation version heralded the arrival of an Avant estate variant, giving the car remarkable versatility. And if performance cars are your thing, the S6 and RS6 models delivered explosive acceleration - all without compromising comfort.

Different models of used Audi A6
We predominantly stock the fourth generation A6 here at JJ Premium Cars, which was built between 2011 and 2018. It was facelifted midway through its production run in 2014, receiving new lights and a revised climate control system.
Body styles
Two body styles were offered, saloon and estate, the latter being called an Avant, as is tradition for Audi. Both are equally packed with features and share the same comfortable ride, though the Avant has significantly more luggage space. It does weigh a little more, though, which slightly impacts fuel economy and performance.
Engines and transmissions
The vast majority of fourth-generation A6s are diesel-powered, with options available ranging in size from 2.0 to 3.0-litres. The former is a four-cylinder unit, while the latter has six cylinders for a smoother, more linear power delivery.
If you're after a petrol, 1.8 and 2.0-litre four-cylinders were built, as were 3.0-litre six- cylinder models. At the top end of the range were the V8 S6 and RS6 variants, the most potent of which produced a whopping 597 bhp.
Both manual and automatic transmissions were offered, though some models are auto only. You could also choose between front or all-wheel drive on certain trims, though the high-performance variants all utilised Audi's famed €˜quattro' system.
Trim levels
In common with other models in the Audi range, the A6 was offered in SE, S line and Black Edition forms. As touched on above, even the base SE was well-equipped, though the S line and Black Edition models look the part thanks to a package of styling enhancements.
